Elizabeth Feinler

Elizabeth Feinler was born in West Virginia. She went to the West Liberty State College in West Virginia. In 1954, Feinler received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and later went on to Purdue university for graduate school. At Purdue, Feinler was unable to obtain her doctorate degree due to financial difficulties at the time. One of the main things Feinler did is that she chose the domains which are used today including .com, .gov, and .org. Moreover, Feinler worked to create the ARPANET which was a part of the U.S. Defense Department to link computers throughout the U.S. so that there would be a way to communicate in case of a nuclear attack. Elizabeth Feinler is a very important figure relating to the World Wide Web, and will continue to be recognized for centuries to come.
